  • What is the best way to exchange money and use credit cards in Bali? - Bali is still predominantly a cash society, the local currency is Rupiah and there high currency values can often be confusing to some travellers. Credit cards are mainly available in department stores, large supermarkets and some of the bigger restaurants, fees may vary depending on what type of card you use, for example, if you use an Australian credit card, you are likely to incur more fees to use the card and your bank will generally charge you international conversion fees, this can become vary costly at the end of your holiday. we recommend international travel cards like Wise, as well as a mix of cash that you can exchange while in Bali.
  • What is the safest way to exchange cash for local currency? - I am all sure you have seen the You Tube video's or Facebook posts about dishonest money exchanges in Bali, unfortunately this does happen but there are a few easy steps to make sure you are not a willing participant in a Bali "magic show" where you watch your money disappear right before your eyes.
    • Only use registered Banks to exchange money, like BCA, Lippo, Madira etc, these are well signed and will often ask to view your passport for verification and will issue you an official receipt.
    • We can arrange a money changer for you, done directly in your Villa or in our Villa Managers office.
    • Make sure the exchange rate is not "too good to believe" or much higher than others in the area, you will certainly get a free magic trick.
    • Does the rate end in odd numbers? (example 10199) rather than an even number like 10200, this is done to confuse tourist in the amount they are receiving, so the amount on the calculator is many digits long, you will certainly be short changed or given the incorrect amount.
    • just be very cautious and use common sense, if you feel you have been a victim while changing money, please let us know immediately, we cant promise anything be we can advocate on your behalf.
  • What power supply is used in Bali? - Bali uses the same "round 2 pin plug" used in most Asian countries, conversion plugs are recommended to bring for your stay. PLEASE NOTE- we understand we are in the digital age and rely heavily on power and chargers, we will supply an Australian power board in every Bedroom and the main living area so you don't have to go out and buy a heap of conversion plugs (we do recommend you have a couple for emergencies or to use if your whole stay is not with us) so you can make sure all of the Australian mobile and tablet chargers will work when you are with us.
  • Buying food and alcohol in Bali - Food is generally much cheaper in Bali, especially anything locally produced. however there are some exception, especially when it comes to dairy, this is hard to find and very expensive to buy, things like Baby Formula, full cream milk, yoghurts, cheeses etc, these are all more expensive than in Australia, please consider bringing some of these with you. Locally produced alcohol is very cheap, like Bintang beer or Smirnoff pre mixed drinks, full spirits that you often purchase in Australia are all imported and are subject to a 50% import tax, especially bottled spirits, we highly recommend you bring a supply from home or the Duty free shop prior to arrival. Bali allows 1lt of alcohol per adult person to be brought in to the country.
  • Smoking or Vaping - Although smoking or Vaping is still widely accepted in Bali, we DO NOT allow either inside of our Villas, including all bedrooms and living area's. If this happens, you may be subject to an additional cleaning fee. Ashtrays are available outside of the Villa and we encourage all guests to use them.
